Production of plays of selective playwrights and selective directors is regular feature of the institution. “Canmass” had participated in many prestigious National and State Level Theatre Festivals with its plays. Some of them are 18th Bharat Rang Mahotsav, an international Theatre Festival organized by National School of Drama at Delhi and it’s parallel festival at Trivandrum, Adirang Mahotsav organized by National School of Drama at Surat, Bahooripi Theatre Festival by Rangayan, Mysore, 03rd National Theatre Festival organized by Minerva Natyasamskriti Charcha Kendra, Govt. of West Bengal Kolkata, Mathakhai National Theatre Festival, Bolangir, Odisha etc
Canmass has been organizing Theatre Workshop for Children in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi every year. It also organizes a “Children Theatre Festival cum Competition” every year to promote theatre activities and sprit among school children.
Organizing National theatre festival i.e. “CANFEST” since last 20 years at Paradip Port City drives its mission to enrich theatre practice and perception in making of finer social structure. In this festival many eminent theatre directors and troupes of the country as well as state had participated. This festival is being organized in three venues simultaneously continues for eight days with nearly 25 performances. Canmass at present is imparting a Three months Short Term Certificate Course on “Acting, News casting and Anchoring” under the aegis of “Canmass School of Performing Arts (CASPA) for the young talents who are aspirant to build up a career in Theatre and media.
Objective of CANMASS
The sole mission of the organization in arranging theater festivals is to project the creative aspirations of the present generation in stage reality, where interaction of theater directors, designers, actors as well as business managers would be able in an informal platform, where performance of theater & provision of platforms is in scarcity. Besides that, we do have an opening through this festival, for exposure of the present-day theater workers, to the ideas & perceptions of persons of eminence, in the field of theater since they are supposed to be the festival insiders.
