The Director
Mr Sujit Kumar Patra, a permanent resident of Deogarh has been deeply associated with drama when he was 13 years old. He had sown the seed of artistic excellence since his teen age there by accumulating the spectator’s appreciation to a greater extent through the first play BAJIROUT and URVASI. Thereafter, he has never looked back. He played a role in NIRMALA BHABAMURTI when he was continuing his study in intermediate class. He was conferred with the best actor prize in National level drama competition for the most memorable play HIRAKHANDARA ABHISHAPTAHIRA. Apart from that, he played many significant role in the plays like HAIGALE SARIGALA,SARANSA, AME ADIMA, MERIA respectively. Many dramas directed by him were SARANSA, GUTECHITHIRA KATHA, LUHARA RANGA, NISANGA KAPOTI. Besides this, he has successfully given direction in many children’s plays. He has got the best Director Award for LUHARA RANGA in multilingual drama competition at Damonjodi in 2022-23.
The Group
Jagarana Art International, Deogarh was established on 1993. Stage Play Hirakhandara Abhishapta Hira, Harigale Sarigala, Eka Amuha Durga Samparkare, Saransa, Ame Adima, Garra,Meria, Gute Chithira Katha, Luhara Ranga, NisangaKapoti, Keda.
Attended many drama competitions & festivals inside and outside the Country:- Allahabad, Paaudi Gadwal ( UK), Dehradun, Jagdalpur, Pradeep, Bhubaneswar, Khurda, Berhampur, Baleswar, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Birmaharajpur, Barpali, Angul.
The Jagarana Art International, Deogarh organized National level Theatre Festival at Deogarh & felicitates the talents of high standard on stage.
The Play
A Veteran painter Raimohan who has already lost his wife gives up his colour and brush (painting)and often embrace wine bottles in his hand being disappointed at the unexpected return of his untime widow daughter from her mother-in-laws house. He always thinks of resettling his broken life of his widow daughter Kalpana providing her daughter with a suitable life partner.
In his critical juncture, a young painter Abhinash Guru comes in contact with Raimohan family. Eventually both Abinash and Kalpana are entangled in love with each other clandestinely Abinash expresses his love before his intimate friend Abhishek. Abhishek could have informed it to Raimohan, but he couldn’t.
In the meantime, a widower in Raimohans neighborhood, lecture Dillip babu agrees to marry Kalpana so as provide motherly affection to his young daughter.
Abinash heart gets broken. Then he leaves to Bhubaneswar for some days out of frustration. He receives prizes in national level competition for his painting.
Then everything is changed. Situation takes different turn. Dillip Babu resigns from his service and he goes to Brindaban (a place of pilgrimage)after an un time demise of his beloved daughter Mini in a road accident.
The Kalpana starts thinking that she is a girl of anonymous hour as she has lost her mother and then her husband. She has also lost her step-daughter who has already accepted her as her own mother. Finally she has to take a very serious step. She commits suicide.
Abinash reveals his pre-conceived intentions about his relationship with Raimohans daughter. Raimohan become very sad. He hands over the tear-smeared brush to Abinash. He allows him to adorn the forehead of Kalpana with a vermilion top.
