THE DIRECTOR…..

Sriman N. Mishra is an actor, News Caster, Poet and playwright. He has been working for the cause of Theatre for last 20years. His contribution to Odia theatre as an actor, playwright and organizer led dimensions in respective directions. He has started working as a director since long as an armature practioner and off let taken up direction in professional approach and this adventure has no end. He has participated in many national level platforms like Bharat Rang Mahotsav & Adirang Mahotsav of National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi. Bahooripi Theatre Festival by Rangayan, Maysore, National Theatre Festival organized by Minerva Natya sanskriti Charcha Kendra , Govt. of West Bengal , Kolkata, Mathakhai National Theatre festival Bolangir, Odisha etc. and also many state leve festivals in Odisha.

THE GROUP…..

CANMASS is a cultural society dedicated to the cause for socio-cultural progress of the Nation at large and the state in particular. It has made contribution to Odia literature, art and other forms of social actions organizing forums, Seminars, performance Theatre Festivals, Theatre Workshop and exhibitions, since its inception. Production of plays of selective playwrights and selective directors is regular feature of the institution. Organizing National theatre festival i.e “CANFEST” since last 18 years at Paradip Port City drives its mission to enrich theatre practice and perception in making of finer social structure. Canmass at present is imparting a Short Term Certificate Course on “Acting, News casting and Anchoring” under “Canmass School of Performing Arts (CASPA) for the young talents who are aspirant to build up a career in Theatre and media.

THE PLAY…..

Truthfulness is the emblem of existence of a human being. Practicing of truth throughout life is a difficult affair. Still the legends like Mahatma Gandhi, Socrates, and Galileo are burning examples of relying on truth at the cost of their life. However, the contemporary world is full of negativity and lies. Each and every human being in their conscious and sub-conscious mind have accepted the lie as a natural go for daily establishment. The play starts in a farcical tone, where a dead body is required for cremation in a newly built up electric crematorium, to be inaugurated by Hon’ble Health Minister.

In spite of all tries, the municipality authorities are unable to trace a dead body. However, the play twists when a dead body was found but with condition that, nobody should utters lies in his face, otherwise, the person will be alive. The person was suffering from a disease which named peculiarly as “Habitual Liar Syndrome”, a newly developed utopian disease in 21st century. What’s next? The play will answer.
